A Few Words About Spring

March and April are highly intensive times for me as a writer. I tend to hunker down and try to get projects finished and started and thought up. It's also a time for looking outward, into the real world of lawns and flower beds and watching tiny seedlings poke up out of the earth, so I also tend to get easily distracted (squirrel! mouse!).

But here's a short poem from Caitlin anyway until I have something more worthy to send into the world via this blog. For her, spring is waiting - waiting for Hagen to return to her.


Promise

Spring is showing some leg, green and sassy
and participating in a fair amount of crocusry
She has my attention now, and not just because
her secrets hold my heart in its prison of anticipation

When will he be back?
Spring has let her hair down, and I am ready
Feet bared and frilly dress airing
For love's footsteps to trample all over me.

Events and News for March

Scheduled Appearance:

I'll be giving a reading at DORT.con in Dortmund on Sunday, 22 March 2015 at 12:00. This will be my first visit to DORT.con and I'm looking forward to meeting new people and hearing a lot of readings. I'll be there Saturday through Sunday.

The guest of honor is Chris Beckett, author of the award-winning SF novel, Dark Eden. I've just started reading it and hope to have it finished by next week.

March Release: two short stories from The Immortal Guardian series

Wings of the Guardian and Eye of the Sphinx, two of my stories from The Immortal Guardian series, have been released as of March 1, 2015.

Enkidu awakes from his stone prison. Nanaia, a beautiful priestess with golden hair is the first thing he sees upon awakening. She gives him his purpose and reveals his curse: to be an eternal guardian for those of the royal blood. She baptizes him Farvardin.

Farvardin, who was Enkidu who was once…something more ancient and terrible, rails at his fate, and longs for the life he once had, the friendship of a great king and the love of his wife. But it doesn’t take him long to realize how much he now wants to stay alive.

He immerses himself into the political intrigues of a Babylon ruled by a young but wildly successful Macedonian conqueror named Alexander, the man he is charged to protect. His failure to keep the great king of this age alive will cost him more than just his life.

The curse of the immortal guardian guarantees it.

 

Leandro Falke, sculptor for the Cologne cathedral workshop and immortal guardian has a secret existence known only to Miriam Richter, his lover and the human he is sworn to protect. Miriam, Hauptkommissar of the Robbery and Homicide division for the Cologne police accepts her lover’s arcane existence and the curse of his oath.

Even though estranged from Leandro because she refuses to accept their coerced situation, her job presents her with a constant temptation to use his special talents. Especially when she’s got a murder to solve. Make that multiple murders. Three young women have been murdered dead, their skin sculpted in grotesque imitations of figures from the cathedral. With no leads and no clue about when the killer will strike again, Miriam needs Leandro.

The good news: there’s a new moon, so it will be the perfect night for flying dark.
